Shany Porras : Abstract Painter : Portfolio
Please find within a current representation of my paintings, that I call 'music translations.' Having studied classical music at a young age, and having grown up in a bilingual family, I continue my existence as a translator. My current paintings translate the language of music into abstract paintings.

The photographs below represent my most recent paintings based on music translations. I work on a variety of music genres that drive the variety of styles represented in the artwork below. The paintings are organized by Abstract vs Landscape. The abstracts focus on the music structure itself, paying attention to scape, chord structure, and rhythm. The landscapes interpret the music's environment, almost as if the music dictates where it should be, not how it should be.
Generally, a single piece of music will generate 6-18 pieces which may not all be represented here. There are instances where I will only produce one painting for a particular song.
"I see music much in the same way that a film score composer hears music when viewing an image."
